Individual research contribution group project

I suggested traffic light/congestion smart predictor as an idea during our idea selection phase. I thought of it as a solution to improve urban traffic management by utilizing real-time data and artificial intelligence to help cut down waiting time, but ultimately, the team decided on an integrated timetable software as it was more relatable for us. I contributed by helping to refine the idea, identifying key gaps, and setting clear objectives to ensure its effectiveness. Through discussions and brainstorming, I also provided insights on the current timetable system. One such insight was allowing the software to be multi-platform so that it can reach more users.

Pitching our timetable app idea was a rewarding experience, as I had the opportunity to contribute by clearly explaining how it could benefit students and faculty. I focused on making the concept engaging and easy to understand, ensuring that our vision was communicated effectively.

For the literature review, I contributed by writing the introduction, hoping that it effectively outlined the research context and significance of the issue to the students of SIT. I referred to previous seniors' work as a benchmark to maintain the expected structure and depth. I researched on why the current timetable was an issue by conducting a survey with students of sit, as well as researching on the core and values of sit to figure out how and why SIT's IT department needs to change the system. After receiving feedback, I incorporated the feedback and refined the review, improving its clarity and coherence.

This week, i contributed by refining the introduction further to explain better who the stakeholders are as well as discussing with my team members about how possible solutions (notion and asc timetables) can be put under the introduction section as it gives readers a brief idea on why our tech is needed. During the process, I reviewed our existing content on Notion and ASC to ensure it was concise, relevant, and clearly explained their functions in relation to our project.

After our consultation with Professor Brad, I helped standardize the formatting of our report to improve consistency and readability. This included aligning font styles, heading structures, spacing, and visual elements to give the report a more cohesive and professional appearance. I also revised the introduction to improve flow and clarity by restructuring paragraphs, refining transitions, and tightening the language based on feedback.

We received comments on the executive summary as well, noting that it should be more concise and better aligned with the body content. I haven’t edited that section yet but plan to work on it soon to ensure it accurately reflects the finalized report.

    1. Dear Professor Brad,

My apologies for the late response and thank you for your acknowledgment.

Yes, I’ve started looking into my research topic, initially focusing on urban traffic management, but ultimately changing the topic to integrated calendar solutions . I’ve been reviewing a mix of articles and using AI tools to help guide my questions and explore different perspectives.

      Best regards,
      Renee
